In my role as lead UX designer for the Pyeongchang 2018 olympics, I worked as part of a cross functional team to complete the design of the Olympics website for CBC Sports.
The broadcast design team establishes the overall look of CBC’s olympic branding. My role as UX designer was to adapt the broadcast branding to create an interface that was both aesthetically appealing and functional when viewed on desktop, tablet, and mobile. Broadcast designs are typically rich and layered as they need to work well in motion graphics. My challenge was to pare these designs back to be optimized for web while working closely with the broadcast designers to ensure that their aesthetic was carried over appropriately.
